The Bible tells a famous story about a faithful but poor and ill beggar whom other people usually neglected or ignored. But the beggar found compassion from dogs, who kept him company and licked his sores to try to heal them. Later, when the beggar died, angels escorted him to heaven.
So people failed to love the beggar, but dogs and angels treated him well. They loved the man even when his fellow human beings didn't.
Dogs don't discriminate against people who are struggling. They simply love -- like angels do.
