Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on March 22, 2019 In this prayer to Saint Dominic, we ask the great preacher against heresy and the founder of the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) to pray for us that we may be granted the virtues that he embodied: a desire to practice penance, through fasting and mortification; purity of body and soul, in a world that values neither; the theological virtue of faith, that we may live our lives in love of the Lord and in prayer; and charity toward all men, especially those who have fallen away from the True Faith and those who have fallen into lives of sin. Prayer to Saint Dominic I. O glorious Saint Dominic, thou who wast a model of mortification and purity, by punishing thy innocent body with scourges, with fastings, and with watchings, and by keeping inviolate the lily of thy virginity, obtain for us the grace to practice penance with a generous heart and to keep unspotted the purity of our bodies and our hearts. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory beII.
